Sports: Mental Game
I field and coach individuals to excel on and off the field. As a semi-retired soccer player and sports counselor I conduct clinics and coach all athletes on the mind and physical properties of the game. The techniques apply to most sports, if not all. To summarize the first steps:
The Steps
- 1. Choose the best role model in a sport or any area you want to improve. Then, watch their videoes, study their success formulas. As an example see Kristen Dribbles Eight
- 2. Assess your skills in that sport. Also assess your emotional health and mental habits to see how focused you really are
- 3. Do not practice at the same level each time. Each practice should be a self-improvement session. So aim for at least a small improvement. Use the Success Record Sheet to list and monitor areas of improvement
- 4. Re-assess yourself weekly: physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually
- 5. Think "team first." Being unselfish will make you emotionally healthier.
- 6. Think sucess, anticipate success and go for the goal, ball, objective. Do not wait for them to come to you. Visualize plays, moves, etc. Practice in the mind; practice on the field.
- 7. Celebrate success after each measurable improvement. Be enthusiastic! Kristen Goals
